Track carrier usage

See how often each carrier actually gets used — your most borrowed and most popular carriers, and the ones that ride to every event without ever leaving the table. Anyone who can view a carrier can log usage for it.

Usage stats come from two different numbers, and it helps to know which is which.

Two different numbers

  • Loans are counted automatically every time a carrier is checked out. They feed the Carrier utilization report, which ranks carriers by lifetime loans — the quickest answer to “which carriers are most borrowed?” and “which ones never move?”
  • Usage entries are a separate, manual log for the times a carrier is used without being checked out — a demo at a table, a try-on during a class, a group event. You log these yourself, and they never touch the loan history.
  • Fit checks are neither. A fit check is recorded on the caregiver, not the carrier — it doesn’t count as a loan or a usage entry.

Together, loans and usage entries tell you how often a carrier earns its shelf space — including spotting carriers that are packed for every event but rarely used, so you can right-size the collection.

Steps

1. Open the carrier and choose Log usage

On the carrier’s detail page, choose Log usage. You can log usage for a carrier in any status — even one that’s on loan or archived — because usage is independent of loans.

2. Fill in the entry

  • Date used — required; defaults to today
  • Usage type — required; one of Training Class, Demo, One-on-One, Group Event, or Family Fair
  • Note — optional; handy for which class or which family

Logging usage never changes the carrier’s status. You can add as many entries as you like.

3. Or mark it used from an event roster

If the carrier went to an event on a packing list, you don’t need to open each carrier — mark it used with one tap from the event’s roster, which records a Group Event usage entry tied to that event. See pack out and confirm returns.

Where the numbers show up

  • On the carrier’s page — the Usage card shows total uses, the most recent date, and a breakdown by type. This is where your logged usage entries live.
  • In the Reports workspace — the Carrier utilization report (available on Pro and Plus) lists every carrier with its lifetime loan count and last check-out date, sortable and filterable, so you can find your most popular carriers and your shelf-sitters. See read your reports. Note that this report counts loans; your logged usage entries appear on each carrier’s own Usage card, not in the Reports workspace.
