Edit a carrier
Update a carrier’s details — brand, model, condition, fabric, pattern notes, ratings, donor information, or its image — after it’s been added. Editing changes the carrier record in place; it does not touch its status, loan history, or Carrier ID.
You can edit from the Edit action on the carrier’s detail page. A Library Owner (of that library) or an Org Admin can edit a carrier.
Steps
1. Open the carrier
Find the carrier in your inventory — search or scan for it, or open it from the Carriers list — and open its detail page.
2. Choose Edit
Select Edit to open the carrier form pre-filled with the current values.
3. Update the fields
Change any field: brand, model, variant, carrier type, condition, size and fit, ratings, fabric, pattern or color notes, certifications, carry positions, or donor information. Loan eligibility and giveaway eligibility can also be changed here.
The catalog picker only appears when adding a carrier, not when editing. To adjust brand, model, or variant on an existing carrier, edit those fields directly.
4. Replace the image (optional)
To change the main inventory image, choose Replace image and upload a new file (JPEG, PNG, or WebP, up to 5 MB). The new image replaces the current one.
5. Save
Save your changes. The updated details show on the carrier’s detail page right away.
What editing does and doesn’t change
- Doesn’t change the Carrier ID — it’s fixed for the life of the carrier, so any printed label or QR code stays valid.
- Doesn’t change the carrier’s status. To move a carrier to In Repair, Reserved, Archived, or back to Available, see Change a carrier’s status.
- The condition field on the record is the carrier’s current condition. Conditions recorded at check-out and check-in build the condition timeline separately — see Log damage.
