Create your organization
Set up your Carrier Stash organization so your team can start managing carriers and loans. The organization is the top-level account that libraries, carriers, caregivers, and team members all live under. When you’re done, you’ll be the Org Admin with an empty organization ready for its first library.
The first person to sign up creates the organization:
- Sign up from the login screen, then follow the prompt to create an organization
- If you’ve been invited to an existing organization instead, you’ll accept that invite on the org picker rather than create a new one
Steps
1. Sign up and start setup
Create your account. If the account belongs to no organizations and has no pending invitations, the Create your organization form is right there on the screen you land on. The first user to set an organization up becomes its Org Admin — the role with full control over the organization.
2. Name your organization
Give the organization a name. This is the name your team sees and the one that appears on caregiver-facing emails, so use the library or nonprofit’s real name.
There is no contact-email field: the organization’s contact email is the email address of the account creating it. An Org Admin can change it later in Organization settings.
3. Choose a plan
Pick a plan from the Plan options. Each shows its carrier limit and price, and Free is selected for you. You can change plans at any time in Subscription settings, so this is a starting point rather than a commitment — see Understand tiers and carrier limits.
4. Add a referral code (optional)
If someone gave you a referral code, enter it here. Leave it blank if you don’t have one. Following a referral link fills this in for you, and you can still edit it.
5. Create the organization
Choose Create organization. What happens next depends on the plan you picked:
- Free — the organization is created immediately and you land in it, empty and ready for its first library.
- A paid plan — you continue to secure checkout to pay first. The organization is created once payment goes through, so a cancelled checkout leaves nothing behind and you can start over.
After creating your organization
Your organization exists with you as its only member and Org Admin. It has no libraries or carriers yet, and there’s no automatic trial. If Carrier Stash has set up a trial for you, see How trials work. Next, set up a library to hold your carriers.
Settings you’ll want next
Two organization-wide defaults are not part of creating the organization — set them once you’re in:
- Default loan period — the org-wide fallback loan length (30 days unless you change it), which pre-fills the due date on check-out. Set it in Organization settings. Each library can override it in its own settings, and staff can still adjust the due date on any individual loan.
- Access mode — whether caregiver records and loan history are visible org-wide (the default: all staff see across every library) or per-library (staff see only libraries they’re assigned to; Org Admins always see everything). It controls visibility only — taking action always requires a library assignment. Change it in Organization settings; see Libraries and access modes for the full explanation.
