Pick brand, model, and variant from the catalog
Use the built-in carrier catalog to quickly select the correct brand, model, and variant when adding a carrier. Selecting from the catalog pre-fills the form — the values are copied onto the new carrier, so you can edit anything afterward.
The catalog picker appears at the top of the Add carrier form. It’s a create-time convenience; when you edit an existing carrier you change its fields directly.
Steps
1. Search for a brand
In the Start from a catalog entry panel, open the brand search and start typing. The search is fuzzy, so close spellings still match. Results include both the shared catalog and any brands your organization has added (marked your org).
2. Add the brand if it’s missing
If no brand matches, choose Create ”…” to add it to your organization’s catalog. It becomes available for future carriers in your org.
3. Pick a model (optional)
Once a brand is selected, choose a model from the list, or type a new model name and choose Add to create one. You can stop at the brand and skip the model entirely.
4. Pick a variant (optional)
After a model is selected, choose a variant, or add a new one. A variant can carry pre-fill values — selecting it copies details like carrier type, size, age and weight ratings, fabric, and pattern notes onto the form.
5. Review and edit the pre-filled form
The brand, model, and variant fill in on the form along with any variant pre-fill values. Everything stays editable — adjust anything that doesn’t match the carrier in hand, then finish adding it. See Add a carrier.
How the catalog relates to a carrier
Selecting a catalog entry writes snapshot values onto the carrier. The carrier never holds a live link to the catalog, so later changes to a catalog entry don’t alter carriers already created from it — and editing a carrier doesn’t change the catalog.
Suggesting entries for the Community Catalog
Brands, models, and variants your org created show a Suggest for Community Catalog link. Submitting sends the entry to a platform admin for review; if accepted, it becomes available to other organizations. Your own carrier and catalog are unaffected while it’s under review.
